Elderberry Syrup Kit Instructions:
What You Need:
- Elderberry Kit
- 1/2 - 1 cup of raw local honey (to taste)
- 4 cups of distilled or filtered water
STEP 1:
•Glass Jars
Pour 4 cups of filtered water or distilled water into a saucepan. Place all the herbs from the kit into the drawstring muslin bag included. Put the filled muslin bag into the water in the saucepan. Do NOT ADD THE HONEY!
STEP 2:
Bring everything to a boil. Once boiling, cover the saucepan with a lid and let it simmer for 45 minutes to 1 hour. The liquid should reduce to half its original volume.
STEP 3:
Remove the saucepan from the heat. Allow the syrup to cool until it's safe to handle and not too hot.
STEP 4:
Once the syrup has cooled, remove the muslin bag from the saucepan. Squeeze the bag to ensure you extract all the valuable nutrients; don't let anything go to waste.
STEP 5:
Add your desired amount of sweetener (raw local honey) to taste. You can adjust it according to your preference.. The more honey you add, the longer the shelf life will be. For children under one year of age, you can substitute maple syrup for honey.
STEP 6: *
Store the syrup in a glass jar in the refrigerator or freezer.
**This recipe makes approximately 32 ounces of syrup. In the fridge, it will stay fresh for 4 to 6 weeks, and you can freeze it in ice cube trays for 6 to 8 months.**
🍃 How to Take:
- For daily immune support, take 15 ml (1 tablespoon) each day to help build up your immune system.
- If you're feeling under the weather, increase your intake to 15-30 ml (1-2 tablespoons) 3-4 times a day.
Keep your creation fresh by refrigerating after making and savor the immune-supporting goodness daily.
🚨For our little ones under 1 year, consider adding maple sugar as a sweetener. If you're expecting, you can easily substitute honey with your sweetener of choice.
